Pastor’s Piece

August 2011

Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ.

Ps 118:28,29 “ You are my God and I will give you thanks; you are my God and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord for He is Good; His love endures forever”

Our God is an awesome God and we do indeed give Him thanks and praise for His love, mercy and faithfulness. God IS Good. ALL the time.

2011 has certainly been an exciting journey and we continue to give thanks to God for His favour and blessing.

Ariah Park Community Service in July was truly a blessing as the churches in that community came together to worship our God. It was a wonderful morning of fellowship and community under God.

Our Annual Charity Bush Dance held recently was again a fun time while raising much needed funds for the local Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. Numbers were down on last year but that didn’t dampen the spirits of all who participated.

Our Women’s events both in Temora and Ariah Park have been a great success and it has been wonderful to see our girls gathering and extending the Father’s love to others. Not to be outdone by the men who have taken time out to fellowship over breakfast at various venues.

Our Young People have continued to encourage us with participation in the Youth Worship Band and other great activities – with more to come as the year progresses.

Temora congregation are enjoying times of ‘close fellowship’ as we learn to operate in a much smaller building. Please be patient as we work through some of the challenges – especially with our children and toddlers. Please also encourage all our young families who do come along with their babies and toddlers. Let’s all make an effort to make it as easy as possible for them until we can move into newer and larger facilities.

The other exciting news is that we have received development approval from Temora Council for a new church building at 114 Hoskins Street. The plans are on the notice board at Temora church, and Stephen French is our builder for this development. We are in the process of seeking God for the way forward financially and would appreciate your prayers and support. As mentioned at our annual church business meeting we also have available pledge forms for any of our members who would like to participate this way. (Thank you to those champions who have already responded). As a church we know that God is our Provider, and the source of all we need. As we commit our ways to Him, continue to seek Him first, and stay faithful to what He has called us to do, we know He is Faithful and will do all He has promised.

In His Great Love.

June 2011
Greetings to all our friends in Temora, Ariah Park, West Wyalong and surrounds.
Paul writing to the Philippians says “ I thank God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus’ (Phil 1:3-6).
David & I can wholeheartedly echo Paul’s sentiments – we are so thankful to God for surrounding us with faithful people with a heart to see God’s church grow and His Kingdom increase. And we have every confidence in our Faithful Heavenly Father that He will complete the work He has begun.
We truly appreciate your servant hearts – so many of you have helped and served in so many areas and we know that you walk in the blessing of God as you continue to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness (Matt 6:33) and continue to be obedient to all He has asked you to do.
Exciting times ahead as we continue to be obedient to His calling on our lives & church and do all God has prepared in advance for us to do. (Eph 2:10).
Hebrews 12:1-3 exhorts us to stay focused, to fix our eyes on Jesus – to consider Him, so that we will not grow weary and lose heart. Let us keep running this race, throwing off everything that would hinder or entangle us. Our Hope is in God alone – He is faithful and He will do it.
We have recently celebrated our third anniversary as Pastors in Temora. (For those interested in the detail, Kings Church was established out of Wagga 6 years ago but has been an incorporated association and self-supporting for 18 months – since January 2010). Our Ariah Park monthly service has been operating for 18 months – and West Wyalong had its 1st Anniversary in May 2011.
Most of you will be aware that the Temora church has to relocate (to make way for the new Temora Medical Centre) – we have obtained temporary facilities until our new building is completed. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped so far with the clearing out of #296 and preparation of #120 – you are amazing………
THANK YOU so much for your very generous gift recently – an unexpected surprise. I can assure you that it will be put to good use when the time is right.
In peace, love & friendship, Ps Patricia & David

MAY 2011

WELCOME TO OUR MAY NEWSLETTER…………………….
…………………. “MAY-KE TIME FOR GOD”

John 15:15 ……… Jesus says “I have called you friends”…….. WOW! How amazing is that. To be a friend of Jesus! We all know that true friendship is a relationship based on love, trust, communication.
Quoting from Word for Today (14th April) …….
David desired to know God above all else. He used words like longing; yearning; thirsting and hungering. ‘I ask only one thing of the Lord. That is what I want: Let me live in the Lord’s house all my life’(Ps 27:4). Again he said, ‘Your love means more than life to me….’ (Ps 63:3). ………………… Paul was another man who was passionate about his friendship with God’ … “My determined purpose is .. that I may … become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him…’ (Phillipians 3:10).
You say “ I’d like a closer relationship with God, but I’m so busy”. The truth is, you are as close to God as you desire and discipline yourself to be! Friendship with God must become your passion. You must intentionally seek it. That means answering questions like ..”Do I value it more than anything else? Is it worth giving up other things for? Is it worth developing the habits and skills required? Am I willing to say, ‘Lord, more than anything else I want to know You’? God’s answer to that prayer has always been” …. You will find Me when you search for Me with all your heart’ (Jeremiah 29:13)………………….. (end of quote)
I encourage us all to intentionally MAY-KE TIME FOR GOD this month. Develop the habits and discipline required.
God’s richest blessings,
Ps Patricia & David
